Art Class: Studio Art School General Policies
Inclement Weather Policy Because inclement weather often affects telephone lines, the following advisory is offered. During inclement weather conditions, check Channel 3 or 13 for closing announcements. Generally, classes will be canceled when inclement weather closes Mariners Park. A makeup will be scheduled by your instructor. For weather conditions that worsen as the day progresses, you can call Visitor Services at the Center at 596-8175.
Registration As a privilege of Pfac membership, members only may register early (see above schedule). Thereafter, registration is open to all. Members enjoy a reduced tuition fee for all classes. Classes that do not meet minimum registration requirements may be canceled at the Program Director’s discretion. Minimum registration requirement is generally six students per class. On-line registration forms are under construction. In the meantime, please call (757) 596-8175 to register, or e-mail with the class name and number and your phone number, and a Pfac staff member will call you for payment information.
Class Attendance To make your experience the best possible, please arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before class is to begin. We expect reasonable and responsible behavior by all students of all ages; please keep your cell phone interruptions to a minimum. Children should be picked up immediately following class.
Photography Permission In our effort to promote the Art School, we occasionally photograph students and student artwork in our adult or children's classes. By registering for a class, you agree to permit the student and his or her work to be photographed for promotional purposes only.
Scholarships Pfac offers a limited number of scholarships based on financial need.
Withdrawals & Refunds A tuition refund, less a $10 fee, will be charged if a student cancels a class seven days before it begins. A $25 fee will be assessed if the student cancels a class less than seven days before it begins. After the first class meets, a 75% refund is available; after the 2nd class, a 50% refund. Thereafter, refunds are not available.
About Security Pfac customer service personnel are stationed at the customer service desk throughout daytime and evening hours when programming is taking place at the Center. The parking lot and entrance to Pfac are illuminated; park personnel periodically check the parking lot and exterior of the building.
